There are numerous reasons people would want to travel to London. They extend from individuals looking to travel on business to those coming as tourists or vacationers. In either case, they want to come to London’s largest airport because of the size and options available. At London Heathrow airport there will be more ground transportation options and more flights. When seeking cheap flights to London Heathrow there are a couple of options to finding good deals to London Heathrow.

The first option for cheap flights to London Heathrow is good for those flying from other continents. All major airlines offer last-minute deals and offer international flights to London. They have to serve Heathrow because for many airlines it is the only airport they serve in London or in some cases the entire United Kingdom. The best way to find these deals is to sign-up for their email announcements and these last minute deals come out weekly. For the international flights, these email announcements are usually for flights a week out.

The second option for finding cheap flights to London Heathrow is using the internet. All the travel sites use their power to offer the cheapest in flights. They can do this because they make their money in the ticketing fees. Although, when one finds a good deal they need to move quickly. Cheap seats can move quickly, even hourly. The algorithms that drive ticket price fluctuate all the time.

With a bit of patience and planning one can find really, good cheap flights to London Heathrow.

Currently, Heathrow airport has 5 different terminals and although there were plans to build a very controversial 6th terminals and corresponding 3rd runway, these plans have now been shelved by the new coalition government in the UK.

Terminal 1 is the oldest terminal and the original terminal for the initial Heathrow Airport. It currently serves the airline bmi and all airlines under the star alliance. Terminal 1 is due to be closed in a few years to make room for an expansion of Terminal 2. Terminal 2 is currently under construction and is expected to reopen in 2014. It will then be expanded with the new section opening in 2019, adding vast new capacity to Heathrow Airport.

Terminal 3 was opened in 1961 and specialises in handling long-haul flights. It has also had lots of construction work done on it in order to support the Airbus A380 – the first airport in the country now capable of handling this super-jumbo. Terminal 4 was opening in 1986 and is connected to the previous terminals by the Heathrow Cargo Tunnel. This terminal is home to all airlines operating under the SkyTeam alliance and a few unaffiliated carriers. It has recently been upgraded to help support Airbus A380 flights and to support more carriers. The newest terminal out of the lot is Terminal 5 which was opened very recently in 2008 and hit the headlines featuring massive delays and teething problems within its first week of opening. Terminal 5 is used solely by the British flag carrier airline, British Airways, to make their flights from.

Everyone knows that Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in Europe. Recently, it opened a new terminal which helps to eases the flow of passengers around the crowded terminals. It’s true that inside this airport there always seems to be continuous agitation and shuffle of people; it’s not so easy to move through the busiest airport of Europe! That’s why it is important to know exactly how to get to the terminals. As in any other country, you can get to the airport by car. If you wake up too late or if you’re afraid that you’d miss the train, it’s best to get to the airport from the M25 and M4 motorways via car, whether this is your own or rented. If you are flying from terminals 1,2 or 3, you have to head towards the Central Area in Heathrow Departures. If you come from the M4, take the exit at Junction 4. If you come from M25 take the exit at Junction 15. After that, you just have to follow the signs to the airport. If you are instead scheduled to fly from terminal 4 or 5, things are much easier because these terminals have their own dedicated entrances.

Let’s take a look at the parking situation at Heathrow; here there are thousands of parking places, so you don’t have to get all worried about finding a space to park. If you stay in the airport for only few hours it will be cheaper to park your car in the Short Stay car park but if you want to park your car for several days, it works out cheaper overall to park it in the Long Stay car park.

As you can see, Heathrow has four main terminals on the map. Terminal 1 is the most northern terminal, and terminals 2, 3 and 4 are spread around it connected by the airport train (shown by the black dotted line on the map. If you’re parking short term, you can choose absolutely any of the bays marked on the map, as the airport train will take you wherever you need to be and you therefore don’t need to worry about being at the right terminal when you’re picking someone up or dropped them off.

If you’re boarding at terminal 1 (the most common terminal to board from), you will find gates 1 to 12 slightly to your left as you go in, gates 74 to 90 more directly to your left, gates 15 to 34 almost directly ahead and gates 35 to 56 further on your right. There are no gates for boarding from terminal 2 as it closed for modernisation and will re-open in 2014. For terminal 3, you enter from the north-east and you will find gates 1 to 10 on your direct left, gates 11 to 24 straight ahead and gates 25 to 33 directly to your left; much easier to navigate than terminal 1! Terminal 4 is entered from the south-east side and gates 1 to 21 are visible from the moment you walk in, for gates 22 to 25 you have to follow an intricate set of corridors to the left to reach your desired gate.

Sofitel at Heathrow is perhaps the best luxury hotel for those using Heathrow Airport. The hotel has a covered walkway that takes guests directly to Terminal 5, and a courtesy bus services will take guests from the hotel to terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4 at Heathrow. London is just 21 minutes away by train. The hotel has 605 bedrooms, 27 of which are suites, and 2 bars and 2 restaurants. Should you wish to relax whilst you’re staying here there is a state-of-the-art health spa and gym on site. Parking here is not an issue as there is covered parking available on site, albeit with an extra charge. Deals are available however if you want to leave your car there whilst you fly off for a while.

The hotel itself is very aesthetically pleasing with an impressively luxurious reception area. The rooms are finished to a very high standard; even high-powered businesspeople would not be ashamed to stay here. A Classic Room (the most basic room they offer) contains a queen-sized bed, with all the usual trimmings, right up to the Imperial Suite which offers 3 bedrooms, a view over the runway, living room, dining room and Swarovski Crystal bathroom.

London Heathrow Airport is a huge airport, even in international terms. It is the UK’s largest and busiest airport, and the third busiest in the world (behind Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta and Beijing Capital). Its busyness is attributed to its location – it is only 14 miles from London and has excellent public transport links from the airport to the capital. Heathrow is also used as hub airport for international passengers. For example, people from the US bound for Europe might change at Heathrow. Something that builds on top of its popularity is the amazingly wide variety of airlines operating from here, along with a huge choice of destinations to fly to. Almost every single airline in the world offers services at Heathrow. The biggest operator here is British Airways offering a great many routes internationally. The major downside to Heathrow however is the lack of budget airlines operating here – Ryanair, one of the UK’s biggest budget airlines, doesn’t offer a single destination here, unlike many of Heathrow’s other rivals.

If you are travelling to or from Heathrow you should build a little extra time into your plan to allow for delays as with it being such a busy airport there can be difficulties with queues. This is a problem even with their 4 terminals – plans are underway to build a 6th terminal and extra runway but it has met heavy opposition with people under the flight paths. Excellent bus and train services into London and other parts of the country are available a few times an hour to help you get along with your journey.

London Heathrow airport is considered to be the largest and busiest airport in the United Kingdom. If you are planning a trip to London Heathrow airport then there are a few things that you need to consider, and plan your adventure. Always be sure to plan all aspects of your trip ahead of time before you venture out on your endeavor. By planning all of the aspects ahead of time it will save you a tremendous amount of time and may be even money.

The first thing that you need to do is book your flights to London Heathrow airport. There are many online websites that are available to you to purchase your airline ticket. By visiting each of these websites it will allow you to compare the prices that are available from the many different websites and quote you the

lowest price possible that they have available.

The next thing that you should do is reserve a hotel room for as long as you will be in town for. There are also websites that are available to you to help you with achieving the cheapest price for the hotel room that is available to you by comparing the prices of all the various hotels that are available in the London area.

Another thing that you should consider before you take your trip to London Heathrow is reserving a rental car so that you can travel around London with relative ease. It is not recommended that you wait to rent a car until you arrive at London Heathrow airport because there may not be available for you to rent.

Yet another helpful tip is to try planning your trip to London Heathrow during the off season for traveling because that tends to be their busiest time of the year.
